Massage Externships Approved in North Dakota

We have been working diligently over the last year with the North Dakota Massage Licensing Board to get approval for our massage students to do massage externships in North Dakota.

This last week we received notification that North Dakota has approved massage externships.  We are very excited to give our massage students the opportunity to do externships in North Dakota; this is particularly relevant to our Moorhead, Minnesota massage students.

Bridget  Hoffman, massage program coordinator at the Moorhead, MN campus, with the help of Maria Leonard, Network Dean of Massage Therapy and Karan Krna, Chief Compliance Officer,  has been working very hard to initiate change to the North Dakota massage legislation in regards to massage externships.  Bridget has done an amazing job and we are very grateful for all her hard work.

This just proves that we can help change legislation.  We just need to be persistent in our endeavors.

Congratulations on securing externship opportunities for students in North Dakota. This is a huge accomplishment and will make a world of difference for our students. Way to go!

I agree - persistence pays when it comes to just about everything including legislative endeavors.
I belong to a professional massage group, here in New York, which is pushing for legislation to have insurance plans and the like pay for medically related massage therapy. It’s a long road, but well worth lobbying for.

Currently, Massage Therapists are the only licensed profession in the state of New York that does not get reimbursed by insurance groups. MDs, PTs, OTs, and chiropractors can be reimbursed for massage though!

Again - congratulations on your legislative achievement.
