Minnesota School of Business celebrated the grand opening of its Elk River campus last week Thursday, June 3. About 160 people attended the celebration, including Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and members, Elk River Rotary members, corporate staff and MSB–Elk River staff.
BobFM radio did a live broadcast on site, and Nicole Rasmussen, community relations coordinator, went on air three times to tell listeners about MSB and invite them to the campus to help celebrate. Visitors enjoyed food from local businesses, indoor and outdoor games, and coloring for kids. Visitors also had a chance to win prizes donated by several local businesses, including Unique Moments Photography, Grand Casino, Oakwood Insurance, Tennis TNT, YMCA, Anytime Fitness, Applebee’s, Blink Bonnie Subs, Melaleuca, Dunn Bros and Caribou Coffee.
In addition, Wells Fargo was on site for the day offering information for students about banking and loan options specific to students and their families. Dan Huisenga, one of the Wells Fargo representatives, is a 2007 MSB–Brooklyn Center graduate of the Business Administration program. Our massage therapy students also gave free chair massages throughout the afternoon.
“The Elk River Grand Opening Celebration was a huge success,” Rasmussen said. “We were fortunate to have many community members in attendance and assist with the ribbon-cutting, as well as a visit from Senator Lisa Fobbe. We were also fortunate to have Harriett Nelson, a 1939 MSB graduate, attend our event. It was wonderful to hear her stories about her time at MSB and to see a picture of her diploma!”

| Hello,
There is still time to donate to our Food & Fund Drive benefiting Second Harvest Heartland. So far, our efforts have raised a small amount that Second Harvest Heartland will use to distribute nutritious food to our hungry neighbors.
We’re off to a good start, but it’s simply not enough.
In the last year, Second Harvest Heartland’s food distribution has increased over 40%. Every little bit helps us feed the hungry children, seniors and working families of our community.
There are three easy ways to start feeding our hungry neighbors today:
- Donate online. Visit www.2harvest.org/MSBElkRiver and click the donate button.
- Donate in person. Bring check or food donations to our Food & Fund Drive Headquarters, located in the common area of the Elk River campus until 8:30pm Monday.
- Donate by mail. Send cash or check donations to the address listed below.
Second Harvest Heartland
140 Gervais Ave. St.Paul, MN 55109-2020
The need has never been greater. I can’t thank you enough for your contribution.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Vanderbilt
