For GUEC’s Annual Community Service Day on May 21st, full time staff divided into 5 different groups to increase their visibility and impact in the community. The groups helped at various organizations including: Habitat for Humanity to build benches and “Kubb” games as a part of a fundraiser, Delong Middle school to help students with a garden project and Feed My People Food Bank to help repackage pasta, Beaver Creek Nature Reserve to clean up trails, Manz Elementary School to record books on tape for their battle of books program, help with projects in the library, and change artwork, and the Girl Scouts Office to help prep for a beautification project.

Two teams, each consisting of four Globe-Eau Claire staff bowled to support “Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2010” on May 6th. The event was a fundraiser to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin. The two teams, “Globe Strikers” and “More Globe Strikers” raised $730.

On Tuesday, May 11 Business of Massage students coordinated a Relay for Life fundraiser. Funds were raised through a bake sale, with baked goods provided by students. During the afternoon, all Globe University – Eau Claire students had an opportunity to buy pieces of duct tape for a good cause; they were then able to tape Dean of Faculty, Stephen Ivancic to a wall in the commons area.

A small, yet hardy group of Globe-EC staff, students, and friends/family of the individuals braved the soggy weather Saturday, 4/24 to help in the Annual Amazing Eau Claire Clean Up. The purpose of the event was to help clean up the area parks and trails in Eau Claire. There were a total of about 400 participants city-wide for the event.

Globe University’s Eau Claire students, staff, and faculty were joined by a capacity crowd of family and friends to celebrate with the 20 graduates for 2010’s Winter Quarter. The ceremony and reception were held at the Metropolis Hotel at 6pm on March 25th.

Globe university-Eau Claire is hosting a SERVICE-LEARNING/ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION on Wednesday, March 17 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Students will proudly be presenting their service-learning projects. A few local organizations will also be in atendance to promote service opportunities that are available. “Lucky” food will be served at the event.
