Early Registration Drawing Winners

Thank you to all students that have registered for 2010 Spring Quarter classes.  If you have not yet registered for classes in the Spring Quarter please contact someone in the Education Department.  Every quarter we have a drawing for students who register early.  If you are registered, your name was put into a drawing for Best Buy gift cards.  This quarter we are drawing for (2) $50.00 gift cards and (1) $25.00 gift card to Best Buy.  The winners that were drawn for this quarter are:

Globe University-Eau Claire Community Service Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to Heidi DeAngelis and Angela Miller for being selected as the recipients of the 2010 Winter Quarter Community Service Scholarship at the Globe University-Eau Claire campus.  These students were selected for their hard work, dedication, and willingness to give back to the community.  Congratulations to Heidi and Angela!!!

Service-Learning/St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Globe university-Eau Claire is hosting a SERVICE-LEARNING/ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION on Wednesday, March 17 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Students will proudly be presenting their service-learning projects.  A few local organizations will also be in atendance to promote service opportunities that are available.  “Lucky” food will be served at the event.

“Globe Trotters” participate in Special Olympics Polar Plunge

Globe University’s Eau Claire campus assembled a team of brave individuals, “The Globe Trotters,” who participated in the February 28th Wisconsin Special Olympics Polar Plunge.  Eau Claire Globe faculty members, Steve Ivancic, Georgia Curfman, Shari Breed, and Laura Weisenbeck Dragseth, along with an Eau Claire Globe student, leaped into 3 feet of frigid water in Carson Park’s Half Moon Lake.   Everyone had a good time, and the team raised over $970 in pledges to help a great cause.

Globe University-Eau Claire Blood Drive

Globe University-Eau Claire business club Phi Beta Lambda hosted the American Red Cross blood drive on campus Wednesday, February 3. A big thank you to all of those who donated blood as the goal of 35 units of usable blood was met. The Red Cross complimented Globe University on having “great” blood drives and on the turnout of donors.

Eau Claire Globe Students Receive Western Dairyland Scholarships

GU-Eau Claire Students Receive $11,000 in Scholarships

 

Eleven Globe University – Eau Claire students recently received $1,000 scholarships to help pay for their tuition, books and other school-related expenses. Western Dairyland, a community action organization that works to improve the quality of life for all, awarded 39 scholarships through its RENEW program. Great Lakes Loan Services bestowed $50,000 for the scholarships.

Student Appreciation Week at Eau Claire Globe

Because of the balmy February weather, Globe University’s Eau Claire campus is planning a tropical-themed Student Appreciation Week.  On Monday, February 1st students can cool off with a refreshing “mocktail”; stop by for a “sweet sunrise,” a “Shirley Temple,” or a “screwless driver.”  On Tuesday, February 2nd a lunch and dinner menu of Hawaiian barbecue pork, chips, baked beans, and tropical fruit salad will be served.  On Wednesday, February 3rd from 10am to 3pm Phi Beta Lambda, in cooperation with the American Red Cross, will be holding a blood drive.  Finally, the Eau Claire Admissions team is hosting Family and Friends Week during which students are encouraged to bring a friend or family member to school with them.  The Eau Claire campus is eager to celebrate its students.  These are the people who make Globe great!

Globe Eau Claire to aid in Haiti Earthquake Relief

In light of the devastating earthquake that befell the Carribean nation Haiti, Globe University’s Eau Claire campus faculty, staff, and students are coordinating a multipronged fundraising relief effort.  Though still a nascent project, traditional fundraising activities such as bake sales and ”walking tacos” will be combined with opportunities to donate funds using available technology.  Proceeds will be split 50/50 between The Red Cross’ immediate relief efforts and Architechture for Humanity, a relief agency that focuses on long term infrastructure stability in disaster ravaged areas.  Globe’s Eau Claire community would like to extend an invitation to coordinate with other campuses in the hopes of amplifying our efforts.

Eau Claire Fall 2009 Graduation

At 2pm on Friday, December 18th Globe University’s Eau Claire campus was joined by the friends and family of 13 graduates at The Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire.  The graduation ceremony acknowledged the graduates’ sustained effort to receive their degrees and evinced the optimism and confidence emblematic of Globe graduates.  Globe is proud to have been involved in preparing these individuals for their careers and wishes them well as they begin the next stage in life!

Globe’s Eau Claire Campus holds Service Learning Extravaganza

Globe University’s Eau Claire Campus will be hosting its inaugural Service Learning Extravaganza on Thursday, December 17th from 11:00-1:00PM and 4:00-6:00PM. Strategies for Success students will be showcasing posters of their Service Learning projects from Fall Quarter 2009. Refreshments will be served in celebration of the tangible effects of Globe’s organization-wide mission to build communities through engagement and produce community-minded graduates for the local and global workforce.
